Friday, September 21: School Selection Process Begins

Tuesday, September 25: Lea Back To School Night

Wednesday, October 3: Fall Title 1 (and SAC) Meeting

LEA AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM ENROLLMENT
Open enrollment for the Lea After-School Program was closed effective September 11th, and Ms. Arttia, Lea’s after-school program director (lea-nettercenter@sas.upenn.edu), has created an enrollment wait list for new families. Enrollment of “returning” families (from last school-year and this past summer) continued through this week and ends today, Friday, September 14th.

SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING (SAC)
The SAC met Wednesday evening in the library to discuss a range of issues:

For Back to School Night we need 4 volunteers for our Welcome Table (please let us know if you want to help out).
The cafeteria has been scheduled for updates to allow for a serving line but these have not been completed yet and no due date for the work has been set.
We are hoping for donations to the Auditorium of lighting and sound equipment, and our drama teacher, Mr. Gottschalk, is following a lead.
The leveling process has begun across the district and it is possible that Lea might lose teacher due to current enrollment levels being lower than enrollment projections. The SAC is working on a letter to the school district to advocate for keeping all our teachers, so please let Molly McGlone (mcglone.molly@gmail.com) know if you would like to sign the petition.
The school selection process is about to begin and the SAC would like to be sure that our out-of-catchment Head Start and sibling families fill out the appropriate forms if they wish to enroll their child at Lea for Kindergarten. We will hold an information session for those families.
We also got updates from the Family Engagement and Partnership Coordinators about all the wonderful things happening to support both families and teachers/staff at Lea by various partners in our community.
If you have questions or suggestions please pass them along to Molly (608-213-4443).
Our Annual Fall Title 1 Meeting will occur on Wednesday, October 3rd from 4:30-6:00 PM in the Lea Library in conjunction with our SAC Meeting. Please save the date and join us for this important conversation about our school-wide plan and the school budget for our school. We need the assistance of our entire school community to prepare our students academically, socially and emotionally for high school, college, career and life.  Families are the best source of information about our students’ needs, and we value your input and need your support. Please plan to attend.

SAC meeting dates for 2018-2019: 10/3/18, 11/14/18, 12/5/18, 1/9/19, 2/6/19, 3/6/19, 4/3/19, 5/8/19.
