The District’s school selection process ends next Friday, November 2nd! If you have any questions about how to go through the process, please reach out to our counselors, Ms. Gessler (tantes@philasd.org) and Mr. Hollenbach (jhollenbach@philasd.org).

Academic Parent Teacher Teams (APTT)

THANK YOU to all of our Grades K, 1, and 3 families who attended our first Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) meeting of the school year this past Wednesday, October 24th!

We had around 100 parents and guardians in Grades K, 1, and 3 turn out to work with their children’s teachers to learn how to support their children’s learning at home. We got to know one another, we looked at reading and math data, and we learned different games and activities that can be done at home. Our next APTT meetings will be as follows:

APTT individual family-teacher meetings during Report Card Conferences on November 7th, 8th, and 9th (teachers will meet with each family one-on-one to discuss their child).
APTT Family Meeting #2 will be on January 30th at 1:00 pm during Report Card Conferences.

Thank you to our amazing teachers, staff, and volunteers who helped make the event run smoothly, and thanks again to all of our parents for participating! We can’t wait to see you again for APTT meetings in November and  January!

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Lea After-School Program

Open enrollment for the Lea After-School Program is closed, though Lea’s after-school program director, Ms. Arttia, has started an enrollment wait-list for interested families. As after-school spots open up, Ms. Arttia will contact families on the wait-list.

FAMILY INFORMATION

Lea Family Survey

Our Family Survey is designed to help us learn more about families’ perspectives on our school and its programming. A link to the online survey is available both in the “Spotlight” section and the “Parents” section of the Lea school website (https://lea.philasd.org/), and paper copies are available on the Partnerships Office bulletin board (Room 125 next to the Visitors Entrance stairway), which should be returned to Mr. Rich’s mailbox. It should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete the survey. Please consider taking a few minutes to share your thoughts and ideas with us!

Family Café

Our Family Café program is an opportunity for Lea families to come together to support one another. The Family  Café meets every Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 am in the Lea Library (with a continental breakfast included). Upon program completion in December, participants will receive a certificate of completion and a Walmart Gift Card. For additional information, please speak with our Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Liaison, Mr. Brown (antbrown001@gmail.com).

Volunteering at Lea

In order to volunteer in any capacity this year (including chaperoning field trips), parents/guardians and community members must attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation Training at Lea with our Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Liaison, Mr. Brown.

The next training will be Wednesday, November 7th, from 12:30-1:30 pm. Please RSVP to Mr. Brown (antbrown001@gmail.com) if you plan to attend.
